Ray O’Mary
Ray O’Mary, 91, of Lookout Valley, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at his home.
Ray was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church for over 60 years and was church treasurer for 27 years. He was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class and Senior Adults at Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He retired as plant superintendent with Tennessee Plywood with over 50 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Collins; parents, Lonnie and Pearl O’Mary; sister, Virginia Taggart; brothers, Henry O’Mary, Charlie O’Mary and two infant brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Betty Sue O’Mary; two sons, Chuck (Ann) O’Mary; Randy (Susan) O’Mary; son-in-law, Mike Collins; four grandchildren, Chris (Tracy) O’Mary, Elizabeth (Chuck) Bowden, Jonathan (Megan) O’Mary and Daniel (Kelsey) O’Mary; nine great-grandchildren; brother, James O’Mary; sister, Ollie Wilson and his “Special Friend,” nurse Jessica Benson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Lookout Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Walliser, Rev. Alan Johnston, Rev. Wade Casey and Rev. Herb Thomas officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
Pallbearers will be Chris O’Mary, Chuck Bowden, Jonathan O’Mary, Daniel O’Mary, Bryant Bowden and Mike Collins.
