Hamilton County and Chattanooga Historian Linda Moss Mines was presented the prestigious Freedoms Foundation George Washington Honor of Medal on Sunday.
In ceremonies at the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Museum in Chattanooga Ms. Mines was cited by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pa. for her years of dedicated service to promote civic responsibility.
David Harner, chief executive officer, said Ms. Mines was selected by an independent panel from leading service organizations. Mr. Harmer said since 1949 Freedoms Foundation has honored exceptional work of committed individuals in the United States.
Mr. Harmer said Ms. Mines' name is being added to a prestigious group of citizens whose work and dedication advances the American ideas.
He said, “Freedoms Foundation wishes Linda Moss Mines continued success with your important work and we thank you for your service to Hamilton County and Chattanooga.”
Witnessing Ms. Mines receiving the award were her family and friends.
