Pointer, Robert Neal (Athens)

Robert Neal Pointer, 83, of Athens, passed away, Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Morning Pointe of Athens.

He was a native of Cookeville, Tn. and longtime resident of Athens and was a son of the late James Thomas and Mary Neal Pointer.

He was also preceded in death by a sister Nancy Bradham.

He was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia Tech and was associated with Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, TN as a Project Engineer.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sarah Waters Pointer; daughter and son-in-law, Suzan and Michael Stewart all of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Patricia Pointer of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Callie Ann Stewart; and four grandsons, Stephen Michael Stewart, Spencer James Sullivan, Jacob Kyle Pointer, and Noah Daniel Pointer.

A graveside service will be conducted, 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15 at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Yeaneyofficiating. There will be no visitation.
