J. Franklin Farrow
Trust for Public Land announced that J. Franklin Farrow has joined TPL’s National Board of Directors.
“In Tennessee and across the country, TPL has spent decades working with communities to connect more people in more places to the outdoors," said Mr. Farrow. "In my own backyard, from the Tennessee Riverwalk that runs through the heart of downtown to the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway stretching from the Tennessee River to Camp Jordan, TPL has been a leader on transforming parks, trails and greenspaces across the communities of Chattanooga and I am incredibly proud to join in furthering this mission."
From the Tennessee River to the Cumberland Plateau and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Chattanoogans can find world-class hiking, biking, and paddling just a short drive from downtown. But still over 60 percent of Chattanooga residents still do not live within a 10-minute walk of a park. And while TPL is proud of recent work to create Chattanooga’s most iconic parks and trails — like The Tennessee Riverwalk, South Chickamauga Creek Greenway, and Stringer’s Ridge — much more work is still to be done and TPL remains committed to connecting everyone in Chattanooga to the benefits and joys of the outdoors, said officials.
Mr. Farrow, 52, is co-founder and chief executive officer of Independent Healthcare Properties, LLC. Mr. Farrow has over 25 years of knowledge and experience in real estate development, construction, operations and financing of senior healthcare services. Coupled with his IHP responsibilities, Mr. Farrow also provides leadership and support to several area non-profit organizations as a board member for the East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra, Samaritan Center, the board of trustees for Southern Adventist University and the Tennessee advisory board of the Trust for Public Land.
A graduate of Southern Adventist University with a degree in business administration, he is also an alumnus of Leadership Chattanooga. Along with being actively involved in his church, Mr. Farrow enjoys most all outdoor activities, especially hiking and cycling. He and his wife, along with two children, have lived in Chattanooga for the past 37 years.
