Ronald Thomas Campbell, 82, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on February 2, 2023, at Bradley Healthcare & Rehab of Cleveland, Tennessee.

He was born on April 5, 1940, in Chattanooga, to the late Arnold and Elizabeth (Godsey) Campbell. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Ashbury Sunday School class. Ronnie was a graduate of Meigs County High School where he was an All Star Athlete. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, Tn. where he played basketball until he was called up for the baseball minor league. After joining the minors, he went on to play in the major league with the Chicago Cubs. He was inducted into the Tennessee Wesleyan, Bradley County and Chattanooga Halls of Fame.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Bobbie Cartwright Campbell, sons, Jeff (Brenda) Campbell of Cleveland, and Scott Campbell of Athens, Mark Irwin (Tonya), Ross Irwin (Lynette), granddaughter, Arian Kennedy (Justin); his daughters, Connie (David) East of Ooltewah, and Jessica Lyle of Cleveland; his sisters, Judy Powell of Pensacola, Fl., Sally Hawkins of Birchwood, Kathy Rowland of Georgetown, and Janet Wood of Chattanooga, and his brother Rick Campbell of Brittsville, Tn.; several nieces and nephews, and special great-nephew Jacob who loved his Cubby.

There will not be a formal service. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
