Woodlands Gathering Church To Host Gregory Baney Speaking On Indigenous Peoples History In The U.S.

Gregory Daniel Baney will speak on Thursday, March 30, from 6-8 p.m., regarding indigenous history. The talk will be presented in Woodlands Gathering Church, at 9966 Lovell Road, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.

Mr. Baney frequently cites oral history gleaned from his own Cherokee/Choctaw/Irish heritage. There is no cost to attend. Parking is free.

Woodlands Gathering is a multi-cultural community, formed to be a safe place for Native people, and all people.

Woodlands Gathering meets for regular service on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Upcoming events include a Wild Onion and Egg Breakfast on Saturday, April 1, at 9 a.m. Good Friday services will be April 7, at 6:30 p.m., and Resurrection on Sunday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. A Seed Preservation Workshop, Cherokee Language classes, and Cultural Celebration Weekend are being scheduled. Mr. Baney served as a grant administrator for the Western Cherokee Nation concurrent with studies at the University of Missouri, where he received a master’s degree in public administration (MPA). His undergraduate degree in History was earned at Oral Roberts University. Mr. Baney then earned a Master of Arts Degree (Theological Studies) at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
