U.S. Army Veteran Enjoyed Reading His Bible, Gospel Music, And Playing Golf

James Bradford “Jim” Kingsley, 92, of Rossville, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Monday, March 27, 2023.

He was born on March 7, 1931 in Plymouth, Ma., but had made north Georgia his home since 1972. He attended Plymouth High School and after graduation in 1951 he joined the U.S. Army and attended Officer Training in New Jersey. He served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam retiring from the U.S. Amy in 1971. He enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to Gospel music, playing golf, and telling war stories. He was very passionate about his faith and trusting in the Lord.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Kingsley; parents, Walter and Alice Kingsley; and brothers, John Donahue and Walter Kingsley.

Survivors include his daughters, Misty (Keith) Kingsley Nevels, Melinda Kingsley (Stephanie Palmer), and Manda (Rachel) Kingsley-Hatsley; brother, Dallas (Cathey) Whicker, Jr.; four grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole, Morgan, and Karmin; four great-grandchildren, Tagen, Genevieve, Conrad, and Remy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Kingsley would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff of Hearth Hospice for their kindness and love during this time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Post 214 at 540 Park City Road, Rossville, Ga. 30741 in order to help with the Food Pantry.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 3, at 11:30 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel.

Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
