The Lady Eagles from Gibbs avenged their loss to East Hamilton on Tuesday with a 7-3 win in an elimination game of the Class AAA state championships in Murfreesboro Thursday.
Gibbs opened the scoring in the first inning in their elimination game with East Hamilton when the Lady Eagles’ Dakota Large went yard with a shot to center field off a 1-1 pitch from Yulai Woodruff.
Gibbs scored again in the second and the Lady Canes answered with three in the third. Gracie Hixson homered to left scoring Maryssa Knox and Bailey Poschke.
The Lady eagles took the lead for good when they hit back for two runs in the fourth and then tacked on three more in the top half of the seventh inning.
Knox and Henley Apps led East Hamilton with two hits each.
