Eva Mae "Boo" Tompkins Conner, 75, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, June 25, 2023 surrounded by love.

She was born to loving parents, the late Wallace David and Eva Mae Tompkins on Nov. 9, 1947 in Greenville, Al. Eva was number eight of nine children, Sallie Mae Nelson, Shirley Tompkins, Janette Wilson, Pearl Walls, Leroy Tompkins and Wallace Tompkins who all preceded her in death. Her children, Tina Denise Gray and Joseph "Jojo" Paul Gray also preceded her in death.

Eva is survived by: her high school sweetheart to whom she was a devoted wife, Arthur Lee Conner of Cleveland; her daughter, Ava D. Davis of Cleveland: she was the best "Granny" to her grandchildren, Star Gray, Frones Lee Eggleston Jr., Nicholas Gray, Christian D. Davis; her great-grandchildren, Kamarjae, Kahner Joe and Kamison Gray, Jakyies Lee Dodd, Zaiden Jayleeon, Ma'Leah, La'Niyah, Elijah Eggleston, Brooklyn Gray, Baylee and Brodie Gray; her brothers, James Tompkins of Tuscumbia, AL and Lugene Tompkins of Painesville, OH. A host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called their favorite aunt, "Aunt Boo" also survives.

Eva accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She was a good and faithful servant of God who showed His love to everyone she encountered. She was a long-time member of East Cleveland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she held several leadership positions.
The Lord blessed Eva with the gifts of compassion, patience and love, which she shared with those who needed it the most, the elderly. God gave Eva this assignment and she worked diligently caring for those in need. She would soothe their souls with her angelic voice that was surely sent straight from Heaven. She earned the title "The Singing Nurse" because she sang to all of her patients and their families while she cared for them. She retired from Bradley Home Health and Hospice as a CNA, but God's work is never done. She continued to sing all over the city and take care of anyone who needed her helping hand and joyful heart to comfort them. If you ever had the pleasure of eating any of her home cooked meals, you were doubly blessed with food that filled your belly and company that warmed your heart.

Please join the family in celebrating and giving God praise for allowing us to share his angel for 75 years. There will be a Memorial Gospel Concert on Saturday, July 1, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 799 Inman Street, Cleveland at 2 p.m.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, make a donation to your favorite ministerial organization to help further the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jim Rush Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Please sign the guest book and leave a memory of Eva with the family at www.jimrushfuneralhomes.com.
