Partner At Dodd And Huskey Cabinet Shop For 50 Years And U.S. Army Veteran

Cantrell Dodd, 90, of Chickamauga went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2023.

He was born in DeKalb County, Al., but lived most of his life in Chickamauga, with his loving wife of 61 years, Nadine Huskey Dodd. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country proudly in the Korean War. He was a partner at Dodd and Huskey Cabinet Shop where he made custom cabinets for 50 years. He started working at Erlanger Hospital in 1980 and retired after 17 years of service. He continued to enjoy woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of Parkway Baptist where he was a member of the Crusader Sunday School Class and served as an usher and greeter for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dewey and Cordia Dodd, one brother and six sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nadine Huskey Dodd; daughters, Cathy (Wayne) Chasteen, Kim (Taylor) Barnes and Karen (Mark) Lavrey; granddaughters, Ally and Lexi Eldridge; grandsons, Nik and Nate Barnes; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Weaver, Dr. Wayne Chasteen and Dr. David Sampson officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and an hour prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
