Randy Lee Grimes, 68, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at his Rossville, Georgia home.

He played high school football and was a graduate of Rossville High School. Randy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Randy played lead guitar with the Gospel Inspirers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Grimes; sister, Barnell Upshaw; brothers, Odell Price, George “G.W. Price, and Nicholas D. Grimes.

Survivors include his daughters, Brandy Grimes (Remington) Shaw of Murfreesboro, Tn., and Kelli Grimes (Maurice) Ballard of Hixson; seven grandchildren; brother, Larry (Deborah) Grimes of Chattanooga; sister, Margaret A. “Peggy” Fountain of Decatur, Ga.; uncle, Cleveland Grimes of Atlanta; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Randy will lie in state on Sunday, June 11, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor William Tramble as the eulogist.

Burial will be on Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
