U.S. Army Veteran Was Pastor Of Several Churches

George Angel, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and of the Baptist faith. George was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a pastor of several churches who loved the Lord and was currently a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. George was a wonderful provider and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

George was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosetta Gibson; parents, Oliver and Anna Bell Angel; brothers, Lee, Clayton, Dee and Eugene, and sisters, Ada, Rose, Cordia and Flossie.

He is survived by his sons, George “Ron” Angel (Sissy), Donald Angel (Elaine) and Michael Angel (Kim); daughters, Lynda Hawks (Jim) and Monese Clark; sisters, Elsie Brock (Henry) and Arva Lee Fisher (Richard), as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, from 4–8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home at Highway 58.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/georgia?form=alz_donate)

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9, at 11 a.m., also at Turner Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Dotson officiating.

George will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
