BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is partnering with Mt Canaan Baptist Church for a drive-thru flu shot clinic at the church, 4801 Hwy. 58 in Chattanooga, on Sept. 23.
Officials said, "Various flu strains, respiratory illnesses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will likely be spreading in the fall and winter, according to the Centers for Disease Control. That’s why it’s especially important for people to get a flu vaccine."
Walgreens Pharmacy representatives will administer flu vaccines to those ages eight and older from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
CT in the church parking lot.
“The flu shot is a proven and safe way to lower the chances you’ll get sick,” said Dr. Andrea D. Willis, chief medical officer for BlueCross. “We encourage all eligible Tennesseans to get vaccinated to protect themselves as well as their neighbors, friends and loved ones who may be more at-risk for complications from the flu. If you have questions about whether you can receive the vaccine, contact your primary care provider.”
The flu vaccine takes about two weeks to reach its maximum effectiveness, so BlueCross urges members to get vaccinated before peak flu season begins.
