Morning Pointe of Athens Assisted Living’s sixth annual Mastering Memory Care Golf Tournament is fast approaching, offering a fun day of golf for a good cause, said officials. The event is coming up on Wednesday, June 26, at the Springbrook Golf & Country Club in Niota, Tn., starting with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

The tournament will benefit the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides caregiver support programs, sponsors educational awareness events and funds clinical scholarships. The Morning Pointe Foundation partners with 17 community colleges and universities, including Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Athens and in Jacksboro, Chattanooga State Community College, Columbia State Community College, and Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tn.

Teams of four can sign for the up through the morning of the tournament. The shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m., and the tournament will conclude with a 1 p.m. luncheon and awards banquet. There will be a
putting contest and four closest-to-the-pin contests for some great prizes as well.

Citizens Bank is the presenting sponsor this year, while ETPS is the cart sponsor. Other sponsors and teams include Hearth Hospice, Hospice of Chattanooga, Cleveland State Community College, Patient’s Choice Lab, Starr Regional Hospital, Caris Healthcare, Sweetwater Hospital Association, S&S Fire, Life Care Center of Athens, the Banyan Family/Tammy Wingo, Hiwassee Builders Supply, Madison Avenue Pharmacy, In Good Health, Tupper Baker, Barry Duggan, Archer’s, Darrin Villa, HealthPRO Heritage, The Weston Group, Dynasty Spa, AccentCare, Express Athletics and Simmons Bank. More sponsorships and team slots are still available.

Last year’s tournament raised more than $17,000 for the Morning Pointe Foundation. "Our Athens and surrounding communities always impress me with their support and dedication,” said Crystal Sutton, executive director at Morning Pointe of Athens. “The Foundation and their cause of supporting clinical education is near and dear to my heart as a nurse, and to see our neighbors coming out to sponsor or form teams to contribute really speaks to where the heart of our community is.”

For more information about sponsoring the tournament or to register as a golfer, call Ms. Sutton at 836-3317, or email Athens-ed@morningpointe.com.
