Carolyn Sue Burns-Owens, 81, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on January 18, 2024.

Sue was born in Chattanooga on June 17, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Albert Burns and Betty Elizabeth Shannon Wilcox and stepdaughter of Raymond Wilcox who was the only father she ever knew.

For 29 years, Sue worked in the family business as the secretary of Bill Owens Heating and Air. Sue was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, flowers, animals, and power shopping. Sue loved music and dancing. She was always the life of the party. She never met a stranger. Sue loved and was loved. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Wilcox; and stepfather, Raymond Wilcox; sisters; Thelma Scott, Phyllis Joy Ahrnes, and Anna Silvey Pelfrey.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Billy Owens; sons, Brian Owens (Connie Faye), Chris Owens (Diane); daughters, Shannon Owens and Kelly Owens-Higgins (Troy); sister, Virginia Threatt; half-brother, Tommy Burns; Three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and countless other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25 at noon in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Flowers accepted or donations may be made to the Humane Society in Sue’s memory.
