Felmont Farrell Eaves, Jr., 91, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, died peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024.

He was born in Athens, Tn., to Felmont F. Eaves Sr. and Isobell Dobson Eaves. Early on Farrell found and cultivated many of the skills and interests that he maintained his entire life. He became a woodworker when he made his first project at age 8. He later became a master craftsman by creating reproduction antique furniture and learning to turn and carve wood. His woodworking shop was a place for professionals and amateurs to gather. He was an Eagle Scout and contributed his time and support to scouting, most recently encouraging his grandsons and great-grandsons in their scouting experiences. Farrell began his lifelong relationship with the Methodist church at Keith Memorial Methodist, Athens, Tn. and was a member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church, Signal Mountain, Tn. for 50 years. Farrell served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as the ship’s photographer on the Battleship USS Wisconsin. He used his love for and skills in photography for the rest of his life. As a career mechanical and safety engineer, Mr. Eaves continued to contribute to his profession even during retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Eaves. Survivors include his wife Fern Eaves; three children: Marilee Eaves Tice (Jim), Dr. Felmont “Monte” F. Eaves III (Gabriele Miotto) and Margaret “Meg” Eaves Manning (Matt); eight grandchildren: Daniel Margrave (Rebecca), Timothy Margrave (Christine) and Seth Tice (Kristen), Emily Eaves, Rex Eaves, Monte Eaves IV, Vaughn Manning and Riley Manning; seven great-grandchildren; aunt, Sally Connelly; and cousins, Joe Rowden and Bill Rowden.

Farrell’s family thanks all who blessed him throughout his life with their friendship, love and kindness.

A celebration of Farrell’s life will be held on Oct. 12, at 1 p.m. at Signal Crest United Methodist Church, Signal Mountain. If family and friends would like to remember Farrell with a memorium, consider in lieu of flowers, a donation to Signal Crest United Methodist Church or find a special place to donate and/or plant a tree.
