Robert "Bob" Michael Cutrer
Dr. Robert "Bob" Michael Cutrer, 75, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Born in New Jersey, he was a graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he earned his bachelor and master degrees in Physical Education. In 1985 he received his doctorate also in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University.
Bob’s spent most of his professional life educating Chattanooga’s youth, first at The Bright School, then at McCallie School on the importance of physical fitness and virtues of an active lifestyle. He worked at McCallie for over 22 years and retired in 2016. While there he implemented the McCallie Tornado Athletics Program (MTA), and was the Director of Wellness, Physical Education, and Human Development.
During retirement he spent his time pursuing his passion for tennis, golf, running and biking. He achieved his dream of being active and physically fit up until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Joan Cutrer, and brother, Dr. William “Bill” Richard Cutrer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carol; daughter, Casey (Duane); brother, Dr. Ken Cutrer (Gretchen) and sister, Susan Bradbury.
Bob's celebration of life will be held at the McCallie chapel on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 6pm, 500 Dodds Avenue, Chattanooga TN 37404. Reception to follow on the campus.
