Nola Bailey Brumit, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024.

Born in Kalamazoo, Mi., Nola lived a life full of dedication, love, and service, leaving a lasting impact on her family, community, and beyond.

Nola was a woman of remarkable achievements, balancing a successful career with her devotion to her family. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, all while raising her children.

Her professional legacy includes her pioneering work as the founding director of the Hamilton County 911 Emergency Services, where she served for 20 years. Nola played a key role in designing the communication systems and the building that continues to serve the community today, shaping emergency services in the region for decades to come. She helped form NENA and TENA, the national and state professional organizations for emergency notifications systems.

After retiring, Nola found joy in spending time with her family, including her beloved grandchildren. She dedicated her time to volunteer work, contributing to her church, local hospital, and library. Her kindness, generosity, and commitment to others were evident in everything she did. Nola’s warmth and strength will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children and her grandchildren. Nola’s life was a testament to the power of service, education, and love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life event will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at The Meeting House, 3912 Dayton Boulevard, Red Bank, Tn. 37415, with parking behind the building. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
