  • Wednesday, November 6, 2024
The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team wraps up its two-game California trip to begin the season with a Thursday night matchup at perennial power (RV) Saint Mary's (CA) on Thursday night inside the University Credit Union Arena in Moraga, California. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Chattanooga (0-1) is coming off a tough 77-51 defeat to USC during Monday's opening night of college basketball around the country. The Mocs were led by junior guard Honor Huff who finished with a game-high 17 points, on the help of five threes, while surpassing 900 career points in the process.
Saint Mary’s (1-0) defeated Towson on Monday night and are receiving votes in the first AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll of the year.

Chattanooga opened its season with a tough 77-51 defeat at Southern California on Monday after running into a cold shooting night. Down a few key players, UTC struggled to find its rhythm and finished the contest shooting just 27.8% (15-54) from the floor and 17.6% (6-34) from deep, both the lowest totals in the Dan Earl era. In addition, the total FG% was the 9th lowest on record in UTC program history.

Honor Huff surpassed 900 career points at the NCAA Division I level after posting a game-high 17 points (5-of-15 FG, 5-of-13 3PT) on Monday night at USC. The game marked Huff's 16th contest at UTC with four or made 3PT FGs and brings his Mocs 3PT total to 114 over 34 games.

Despite finishing with a low 17.8% (6-of-34) 3PT total on Monday at USC, Chattanooga extended its streak of five or more made 3PT FGs to 69-straight games. The 69-game total is the second longest active streak (Oral Roberts, 129) in NCAA Division I basketball and 22nd longest in DI history.
