Chad Eric Hackney
Chad Eric Hackney went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Chad had suffered many years with various health issues and his earthly body wasn't able to sustain his final diagnosis.
Chad grew up in Ringgold, and still spent much time there even after marrying and moving to Acworth, Ga. in 2017.
Chad is survived by his loving wife, Kay, daughter, Bailyn, and was a dog dad to Lola and Harley. He is also survived by his mother, Sherry Hackney and sister, Lori Wheeler (Jeremy).
He was preceded in death by his father, Landon Darrell Hackney. He will be missed by numerous loved ones, friends and family.
Chad was a master furniture maker by trade and was a 1997 graduate of Ringgold High School. He received a bachelor's degree from UTC in Research Psychology after also attending UGA. He was also a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. Chad was an Eagle Scout in his youth and loved the outdoors. He had a great sense of humor and was seen as an eccentric-type personality by those who knew him.
Chad was a collector of facts, figures and useless knowledge. If he learned something new, he learned all about it. He had many hobbies including collecting childhood toys, specifically Masters of the Universe collectibles.
Chad was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone needing his help. He cherished his friends and was loyal to a fault. Chad would quote Mark Twain often and loved Batman movies and memorabilia with a passion.
When describing Chad, a Mark Twain quote is pertinent: "To be good is noble; but to show others how to be good is nobler and no trouble." This phrase embodies Chad's kind heart and willingness to help.
Those who know all of the physical issues Chad dealt with through the years, a Batman quote from the 2022 movie The Batman, states his willingness to keep going when the odds and physical pain were great: "Our scars can destroy us, even after the physical wounds have healed. But if we survive them, they can transform us. They can give us the power to endure, and the strength to fight."
Chad's ability to endure and fight was inspiring and did transform all who knew and loved him.
Chad's visitation will be on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. with a service to follow at 12 p.m. held at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway location. A graveside service will follow at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
