Robert Earl Hughes
Robert Earl Hughes passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2024. He was 91.
Robert was the son of Roland and Patsy Jones Hughes of Madison, Alabama. He was born on July 22, 1933, the oldest of 10 children born into this union.
Robert was a member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church and a part of the Usher Board, as well as the Trustee and Bus Ministry until his health declined.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, six siblings, grandson, James Robert Baldwin, his loving wife of 74 years, Bertha Mae Russell Hughes, and daughter, Pamela Fern Hughes.
Robert enjoyed life, loved his family, and worked hard to provide for them. Those left to share memories and stories of his backyard barbecues and ability to “fix” anything with his bag of tools and a roll of silver duct tape are his loving children, Linda (James) Baldwin. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
An 11:30 a.m. graveside service will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, at Greenwood Cemetery.
