Joyce Lee Jaynes Guffey, 91, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away in her home December 1,2024. Joyce is the widow of William Arvil Guffey.

She was a member of the Lookout Valley Baptist Church. She retired as a nurse from Erlanger Hospital after 27 years. She was the daughter of John Henry Clay and Ida Florence Jackson Jaynes.

She is survived by her sons, William Arvil Guffey, Jr., Ed (Carolyn) Guffey, and Jeff (Suzanne) Guffey, grandsons, Michael (Leeann), Kevin (Jaime), Matthew, Christopher (Bethany), and Jacob Guffey; great-grandchildren, Kelsea (Peyton) Green, Caleb, Anslea, Emma, Cayden, Asher, and Harper Guffey.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Lookout Valley Baptist members for the special care they have given her in the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Arvil Guffey and her parents, Clay and Ida Jaynes.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

A chapel service will be at 12 p.m., followed by interment at Lakewood West Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Chattanooga Memorial Funeral Home, 144 Browns Ferry Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37419, 423 591-7777.
