Wendell Thomas Jr., 67, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 in a local hospital.

Wendell was born in Trenton, Mi., and he was the son of the late Evelyn Pauline Underwood Thomas and Wendell Cecil Thomas Sr. His son, Wendell Nathan "Booge" Thomas, his grand daughter, Hailey Thomas, his sisters, Jean Gatlin, Patricia Adkins, his twin siblings, Michael and Maryann Thomas and his in laws, Katy Shelton and Willard Tretham also preceded him in death. Wendell drove a truck most of his life and more recently, drove for the local Poultry Farms. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and camping. Wendell was a Christian.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rose Thomas, Cleveland, son, Patrick Thomas ( Heather Mawby), Cleveland, grandchildren, Jimmy Thomas, Madison Thomas, Emily Thomas, Alivia Thomas, sister, Audrey McKay, Athens, Tn., brothers, Tony Thomas, David Thomas (Karen Jackson Thomas), all of Cleveland, several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Reverend David Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Ocoee Cemetery (Four Mile) in Polk County with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
