Virginia Marcine “Marcy” Austin, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 81 years young.

Marcy was of the Church of God faith. She was born and raised in Soddy, and the last 40 years of her life, she lived in Red Bank. Marcy was a loving, caring woman who never met a stranger and had so many people that loved her. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and had a quick wit till the day she left this world. Most people who knew her said she was so feisty and they loved that about her. Marcy would still make people laugh even after her disease took her ability to walk and remember. She still had moments that her personality was bigger than her little 4’11” frame. Mama was raised in church, her daddy was a preacher, they sang as a family and Marcy was so little she had to stand on a box to reach the microphone. She had an unwavering faith in the Lord, with all the pain and sorrow in her life. She knew the Lord was always with her and those she loved. She shared that Faith and Love with everyone she met.

Marcy loved her girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always said she would walk through fire for them, and any of her family. She was Nanny to the grandkids, great grandkids and to all their friends. When the boys would bring friends to Nanny’s house those friends left calling Mama, Nanny.

Marcy was a waitress and cashier most of her life, working from the age of 16 till she had to retire after an injury that slowed her down but did not stop her. Through her faith in Jesus she volunteered at nursing homes in the area, went to the kids sporting events and worked in her wonderful flower garden into her 70’s.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace E. Smith; husbands, Billy J. Austin and Bobby Wilson; sister, Imogene Leffew; oldest grandson, Brad Corder and son-in-law, Mark Corder.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pam Corder and Bobbie (Jimmy) Kelley; grandson. Billy (Erin) Austin; great grandchildren, Tucker and Everly Austin; many extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed and there will always be an empty chair for her at our table. Where there is great love there is great grief.

We are very thankful to our friend Wanda for loving mama like family. Thanks to Caris Hospice staff, especially Lori, Tara, Aubree, and Jolene for your kindness to our sweet lady and for all the help and kindness you have shown to us and to Alexus for being there and helping us in Mama’s final hours.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband.
