The Planning Commission on Monday afternoon heard a rare request - a developer asking to go from an approved 57 lots down to just 12 lots.
Rocky Chambers of Chattanooga Engineering Company said the developer on a project at 712 and 7620 Snow Hill Road had decided to concentrate on just the 12 homes.
He said the new plan would help preserve a number of large trees on the property.
Wayne Rich, a neighbor, told the commission, "I haven't heard from one person who is not elated about this."
Kim Helton said she was also elated, but she said there was a concern about going from one curb cut on the project to 12. She said on the narrow, very congested Snow Hill Road that would bring issues with school buses, mail trucks, garbage trucks and the like having to stop at all the driveways and backing up traffic.
Mr. Chambers said having a shared driveway "doesn't really work with this traditional neighborhood."
The commission recommended approval on the project, leaving in the 12 curb cuts.
