Senior Caregiver Known For Her Heart And Kindness

Marvetta Ruth Dyer Rogers of Chattanooga, Tn., formerly of Bridgeport, Al. passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Marvetta was preceded in death by her parents Theron Stephen Dyer and Juanita Ballard Dyer, her husband Bobby Joe Rogers and one granddaughter, Shanna Ruth Thomas.

She is survived by one daughter, Robyn Rogers Thomas and son in law Steve Bumbalough of Chattanooga, one son Bobby Dale Rogers of Chattanooga; 4 grandsons, Stephen (Lyra) Thomas of Hixson, Tn., Allen (Monica) Thomas of Boynton Beach, Fl., Bobby Joe Rogers III (Courtney) Rogers of Whitwell, Tn., and Andrew Rogers of Jasper, Tn; one granddaughter Amanda (TJ ) Bohanan of South Pittsburg, Tn. 7 great-grandchildren; Henry and Hudson Thomas, Patton and Ruth Thomas, Abby Rogers, Adaleigh and Kensleigh Bohanan, several cousins and many, many loving friends.

Marvetta was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Pittsburg and a retired employee of the former Pittsburg Knitting Mills. After her retirement, she served as a caregiver to seniors of the community. Marvetta was best known for her huge heart and sincere kindness.

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg from 4 to 7 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10 a.m. (CST) in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with the Reverend Brad Bridgman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Autism Speaks Organization, a non-profit autism awareness and research organization, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or The Alzheimer’s Association for research for Alzheimer’s and other Dementias.
