UTC Beach Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season With OVC Weekend At Martin

  • Thursday, April 18, 2024
The Chattanooga beach volleyball team will officially wrap up its 2024 regular season this weekend with four matches awaiting them April 19-20 at the OVC Weekend in Martin.

UTC’s hopes for their first-ever Ohio Valley Conference regular season title are alive and well heading into the final weekend of the year, as the Mocs currently sit tied with UT Martin atop the OVC standings. With matches looming against Tennessee Tech, Lindenwood, Eastern Illinois and Morehead State, Chattanooga could clinch at least a share of the regular season crown if they were to sweep their way to four straight wins this Friday and Saturday.

The weekend begins for the Mocs at 1 p.m.
ET on Friday with UTC set to battle it out against TTU, before turning around to take on Lindenwood that same day at 5 p.m. ET. The Mocs will then turn their attention to Saturday’s slate of matches, which includes a 9 a.m. ET clash with Eastern Illinois before taking on Morehead State in what will be UTC’s regular season finale.

“Nothing’s a gimme in the OVC,” head coach Darin Van Horn said. “We’ve gotta earn everything that we get. You obviously never know how it’s gonna play out, but they should have a lot of confidence in themselves and know that they’re doing it the right way. I’m proud of them for that.”
