Mr. Dennis Eugene Green, of Dalton, Georgia, a treasured soul, passed away peacefully, April 1, 2024, at home, concluding a valiant 11-year battle with brain cancer. His resilience and courage throughout his illness were a testament to the strength and optimism that characterized his entire life.

Dennis's professional journey began 34 years ago at Shaw Industries, which ran parallel to his noble commitment to serving the community through the Whitfield County Fire Department. Over the course of 34 years, he dedicated himself as both a volunteer and a full-time firefighter, embodying the spirit of service and bravery.

When health required a change of pace, Dennis seamlessly transitioned to the County Tax Assessor's Office, where he continued to work with unwavering determination until his final days. His dedication to his work was second only to the love and commitment he had for his family.

An avid outdoorsman, Dennis found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply basking in the beauty of the wilderness, he was in his element. Dennis enjoyed the great outdoors as much as he enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a dedicated fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, always eager to catch a game and share in the camaraderie of fellow supporters. His enjoyment of sports was a joyful and lively part of his life.

Above all, Dennis was an extraordinary family man — an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. His unwavering love, wisdom, and warmth shaped the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

While the family will cherish his memory in private, we invite all who knew Dennis to hold him in their thoughts. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the Brain Cancer Research Fund, continuing Dennis’s legacy of giving and support for others.

His life was a beacon of dedication, joy, and genuine kindness. Dennis Eugene Green's memory will forever be a guiding light to all who loved him.

Dennis was born on May 30, 1971, in Dalton, Ga., a son of the late Billy Lamar and Charlene Serett Green. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Landry Wood.
