Dovie “Doedoe” Garrett Golden, 100, of Chickamauga, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at her home.

She had lived most of her life in Chickamauga and several years in Cartersville, Ga. Dodo was a member of The Church of God and had worked many years at Crystal Springs and she retired in 1986 from Candlewick. Dodo loved her family and her grandchildren dearly. She loved to sew, quilt, and crochet. She taught herself this art and she could make her own patterns and create one-of-a-kind pieces that she would share with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Hubert Garrett, Tom Crowe, and Alvin Golden; four children, Clarence Garrett, Johnny Garrett, Wayne Garrett, and Barbara Slaton; her siblings, Jessie Boyd Dalrymple, Thurman Dalrymple, James “Junior” Irving Dalrymple, Coolidge Dalrymple, Genita Ridley, Charles Deal, Billy Deal, and Malcolm Baine; grandson, Stephen Garrett; and two great grandchildren, Michael Garrett and Megan Neal.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Shirley Garrett and Linda Garrett; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Alfred Holland officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
