Priscilla Lee George, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. A loving devoted child of God, she is blessed now to reside in unimaginable peace in the radiance of His glory.

She was born in Chattanooga on Jan. 3, 1947, to Victor and Hazel Stone. They lived in Boynton, Ga. Priscilla graduated from Ringgold High School and Tennessee Wesleyan, receiving her degree in English Education, followed by a certificate in Intellectual Gifted Education.

Priscilla instructed gifted students in five Chattanooga area schools and then Dalton, Ga., where she led the Challenge (intellectually gifted) Program. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Association of Gifted Children and retired after 40 fulfilling years in education.

She met her husband Steve when he was a teacher and soccer coach at McCallie School. They married in 1983 and were long-serving members at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. They enjoyed traveling by camper van with their sailboat and becoming active at the Privateer Yacht Club. Their Christ-centered life together revealed a testament to love and shared adventure.

Priscilla served in special ministry bringing prayer and succor into the homes and alongside the bedsides of aging, infirmed, and shut-in members of the church body. She was known for her wit, keen understanding of others, and for the warmth and loving kindness towards all. She always will be remembered as one who had sold herself out to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and expressed the overflow of love for Christ in her heart through merciful service for the benefit of many and the glory of God.

Priscilla would like to thank Steve’s brother Tag and his wife Robin, for their loving, intensive, sacrificial care and assistance in connection with all the family’s needs.

The family would like to thank Priscilla’s amazing neighbors and her wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ who came around her in such a loving and personal way to care for both Priscilla and Steve during their hour of physical hardship and challenge.

Priscilla is preceded in death by parents Victor S. Stone and Hazel Vaughan Stone, and brother Victor Dickie Stone. She is survived by her husband Steve, for whom she cared devotedly during his own health trials and disabilities.

A memorial service celebrating Priscilla’s life and many accomplishments will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga on Thursday, April 11, at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family will request donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga or the local ALS Association - Tennessee Chapter.
