Lonnie Hood, Jr.
Lonnie Hood, Jr., 62, passed away on May 10, 2024, at Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lonnie was born on October 30, 1961, to Lonnie Hood Sr. and Lena Hicks. He grew up in the neighborhood of St. Elmo. Lonnie attended Howard High School and worked various jobs as a handyman around the Chattanooga community. Lonnie, Jr. was of the Baptist faith and loved listening to gospel and country music.
Preceding him in death are his father, Lonnie Hood, Sr.; mother, Lena P. Hicks; stepfather, Eddie Hicks; sisters, Donnetta Yates, Linda Hood, and Lori Hood Hardaway.
Surviving him are two sons, Warren Hood and Shaun Hood, of Chattanooga; sisters, Deborah (Michael) Rudolph, of Acworth, Ga., LaShaunda (Eric) McIntyre and Cathy “Cookie” Coleman, of Chattanooga, Christie Wyatt, of Arlington, Va., and Sherry Duplesis, of Detroit, Mi.; brothers, Darryle LaVan (Valarie) Hood, of Aurora Colorado and Rodney Southers, of Chattanooga; two grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery, 1954 Greenwood Road, 37406.
