Clarence Cole “Sam” Patten, Jr., 89, of Hixson, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

He served in the U.S. Navy for five years. After 27 years of service, he retired from NTT Training Inc. He was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ. He loved boats and anything to do with water.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adeline and Clarence Patten Sr.; sisters, Lou Townsend and Bettye Mae Burch; and brother, Patrick Patten.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth Patten; daughter, Sammye Banker (Jeff); son, Webb Patten (Teresa); grandchildren, Josh Banker (Kristin) and Cole Banker; one great-grandchild, Jackson Banker; sister, Patricia Rushing; and a large extended family.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
