James B. Grant, 86, of East Ridge, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lexington, Ky., on Oct. 3, 1937, to the late Jim and Margaret Grant. Jim graduated from Lexington Catholic High School in 1955 and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. Jim retired from TVA. He was musically inclined, playing the harmonica and the piano. He enjoyed fishing, playing Texas Hold’em and working as a hospice volunteer. Jim was a tremendous husband and father and his words of wisdom will continue to guide his family and friends throughout the remainder of their lives.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Grant.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Diane Grant, four children, Jim (Linda) Grant, Kelly Kroll, Lesley (David) Bostain, Jody Grant, and bonus daughter, Ginny Parr Munn; two step children, Kelly Braden, and Scott Kindelberger; brother, Joe (Doris) Grant; six grandchildren, Jackson Bostain, Davis Bostain, Callan Kroll, Kendall Kroll, Marissa Grant, Michael Grant; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5–8 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 24, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 501 S. Moore Road Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.

Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tn.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Music Department, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.
