Lee University announces the appointment of Dr. Randy Sheeks as the interim director of Lee Singers, effective immediately. Dr. Sheeks brings a wealth of experience and a passion for choral music to this position.

“I am excited to direct the Lee Singers this year,” says Dr. Sheeks. “Being a member of the Lee Singers was a wonderful part of my college experience as a student, and now, I can provide leadership to that experience for a new generation of Lee students.”

Lee Singers, founded in 1963, is a dynamic mixed choral ensemble comprising 40 vocalists and nine band members, touring both nationally and internationally, showcasing a diverse repertoire that includes sacred choral works, praise and worship music, traditional choral pieces, patriotic songs, and gospel favorites. The ensemble celebrated 60 years of wonderful music making at Lee’s 2023 Homecoming.

“I look forward to building upon the legacy of this phenomenal group,” Dr. Sheeks adds.

Dr. Sheeks has been a member of the Lee University School of Music faculty since 2010, currently serving as the associate dean of the School of Music and the area coordinator for the music and worship degree program. His extensive background includes 23 years of local church music ministry, where he significantly impacted music and worship programs at Cathedral of Praise (Sylvania, Ohio), Metropolitan Church of God (Birmingham, Al.), and Mount Paran North Church (Marietta, Ga.).

His contributions to church music were recognized with the Distinguished Musicianship Award from the Church of God in 2004, acknowledging his transformative work at Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham. Dr. Sheeks continues to inspire and educate future music leaders through his role at the university.

Dr. Sheeks is joined in his passion for music ministry by his wife, Debbie. Together, they have actively contributed to music ministry for many years and have two adult daughters, Elizabeth and Meredith.

Dr. Sheeks succeeds Dr. Brad Moffett, who concluded an 18-year tenure of dedicated leadership with Lee Singers this spring.
