Chattanooga Art + Climate Project present the debut of Adam Frelin's Rising Action at Crabtree Farms on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., where the sculptures represent the elements of fire and water.
Since 2023, ArtsBuild has been working on the Chattanooga Art + Climate Project. The Chattanooga Art + Climate Project supports bold new works of art that educate the public, serve as a beacon, and start conversations about the environmental risk factors that impact neighborhoods along the Rossville Boulevard corridor.
The creative team includes New York-based artist Adam Frelin, and a cohort of three local artists: Andy Ramirez, Aubrey Charnell and Chase Guajardo. They each have created a temporary artwork that will be featured in a series of engagements and exhibits through December.
Adam Frelin has created Rising Action, a public art experience about natural forces - heat and flooding. Centered around two towering inflatable sculptures that embody the energy of water and fire, their size aims to reflect the scale of the issues brought on by a changing climate. The sculptures are accompanied by a sound score that includes voices of community members, as well as costumed performers referencing other natural forces.
The Chattanooga Art + Climate Project is supported by the Lyndhurst Foundation.
The exhibit is part of Crabtree Farms' weekly Farm Stand day of fresh, locally-grown food.
Crabtree Farms is at 1000 E. 30th St.
