Mary Katherine Sims North passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Born on Sept.11, 1923, she would have been 101 this September. She was the daughter of Oscar L. Sims, Sr. and Ollie Sharp Sims of Rossville, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her husband of 65 years William L. (Bill) North, Sr., infant daughter, Patricia Kay North and by brothers O L Sims, Jr. (Louise) of Chattanooga and Carl Sims (Hazel) of Oak Ridge.

She retired from Railway Express Agency and was a member of McFarland Methodist Church in Rossville.

She is survived by her son, William Lawrence North, Jr. (Sherry) and her granddaughter, Mary Allison North, all of Jonesboro, Ga. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Maxine North and Mildred North and several nieces and nephews, including Jo Lynn Sims, who cared for her in her last years.

The family wishes to thank the Rosewood Assisted Living staff in Fort Oglethorpe and Hearth Hospice of N Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Grogg officiating. Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 1-3:30 p.m. on Friday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
