Held Long Career With The Georgia Department Of Labor

Dorothy Burrow Hale, 86, of Rossville, went home to Jesus on Wednesday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born to John and Gertie Burrow on July 14, 1938. Dorothy was a graduate of the 1958 Class of Central High School. She was a member of the ladies’ softball team, swim team, President of the TWIXTEENS and Miss Central.

Dorothy retired from Georgia Department of Labor after 35 years of service and was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church where she worked with the Children’s programs and a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She had a heart for service, always involved with her family cooking. She was known for Memaws Fried Pies, she would sell them at festivals and farmers markets and a following of people ordering her pies. Dorothy was involved in her community and beauty pageants, Junior Miss and Miss Chattanooga Pageants. She loved being a mother was always a very loving grandmother and friend. Dorothy called her daughter-in-law her love daughter. These words from her daughter-in-law are “She fought the good fight. She was the best mother-in-law / grandmother anyone could have ask for. She loved God and her family. Her love language was giving to others. The last six years were very hard for her, but she never complained”. She had a sweet spirit and loved everyone. She is complete now, without any pain. Dorothy was a Prayer Warrior, one of her many favorite Bible verses is Psalm 91:11 and she loved singing “His Eye on the Sparrow” with her daughter Kim.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Hale, son, Kenny Hale, Jr. and 9 siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Duncan; grandchildren, Matthew Dean Hale, Derek George Hale and Kasie Lucile Duncan., daughter-in-law, Sharon Hale, sister-in-law Mary Anna Burrow, best friend, Mary Jo Case; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

Dorothy was a people lover, and the family would like to thank everyone who made her life joyful especially Frank and Barb Kelly and the neighbors of Luwana Drive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga with Pastor Frank Kelly, Grandchildren and Mary Jo Case officiating. Entombment will follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the church.
