James Edward “Ed” Handley, 76, of Hixson, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Ed was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He worked for the Secret Service for four years, and then retired from TVA. After his retirement he worked for the Natchez Shooters Supply Company.

He is a member of the Daisy Masonic Lodge F&AM # 706, where he served as Past Master. Ed was a member of the York Rite, Scottish Rite 32 degree KCCH, Worthy Patron Eastern Star with the Daisy Chapter, Illustrious Master MT Moriah Council # 95 and Lookout Commandry # 14.

Ed was a member of Dallas Bay Church where he was very active in his Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara “Nona” and J.D. “PaPaw” Handley.

Ed is survived by his wife of 42 years, Teresa A. Handley; sons, Adam (Misty) Handley and Bradley Handley; grandchildren, Dustin Blake and Isla Wren Handley; siblings, Tobie Handley, David (Rita) Handley and Rhonda Watkins; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Ed’s life will follow at 1pm on Saturday, July 13, at the North Chapel with Tony Bennett officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens where a Masonic service will be conducted.
