Tommy R. Scoggins, 61, of Birchwood, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

He was born in Chattanooga, and attended Bradley Central High School. Tommy was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving for three years. He was an avid Harley-Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and was one who loved the outdoors, especially flowers and nature. Tommy was a very creative person, making many items from what nature gave him to work with. Because of his creative ability, he was employed as a Sign Designer in Cleveland, Tn. He loved animals, especially his dogs. Tommy devoted his life and time to being a caregiver to his parents.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; father, David Scoggins, Sr.; brothers, James “Jim” Scoggins and David Scoggins, Jr.; nephew, Justin Gilreath.

Survivors include his mother, Loraine B. Scoggins; sister, Brenda (Larry) Gilreath; niece, Julie (Brandon) Turner; nephew, Jason Gilreath; special cousin, Rhonda Queen and several other extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Cy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Plowman Cemetery.
