John Louis Delich, 73, of Hixson, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 12, 2024.

He was born in Chicago. John met his wife, Linda, at Northern Illinois University. He resided in Morton, Il., for 38 years where he and Linda raised their two sons. His entire career was spent in sales. He thoroughly enjoyed talking with people. In 2017, John and Linda followed their sons and families south.

John loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed photography and playing golf. He really loved baseball - playing baseball, practicing with and coaching his sons, watching his grandsons play and watching his Cubs.

John was a member of Dallas Bay Church and the Gatekeepers Sunday School class. He was a wonderful example of walking in faith and always had a positive outlook and a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his parents John N. and Theresa Amendola Delich.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Linda Delich, two sons, John E. (Holly) Delich and Greg (Katie) Delich, grandsons, Levi, Landon, Charlie, and Brayden, siblings, Jeannie (Barry) Scott, Mike Delich, and Carrie Delich, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda and the family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Hearth Hospice staff that cared so diligently for John during the last year and a half especially Bylinda Johnson, Ashley Rotman, Glynne Casteel, and Pat Caffee. And thank you, David Lewis, one of John’s dear friends who visited him often. A special thank you to Pastor Ken and Rose Young who frequently stopped by to visit and shared Scriptures and words of hope with John. They always compared notes on recent baseball games that unfortunately included the Cardinals.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Ken Young will follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and burial afterwards in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Contributions can be made in John’s name to Dallas Bay Church, 8305 Daisy Dallas Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com
