Harry D. Harmon
Reverend Harry D. Harmon, 99, passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2024. He was born on February 28, 1925.
His life and ministry touched and influenced many people in all walks of life. He was well known for singing and choir leading. Reverend Harmon volunteered in the ministry at Silverdale CCA Women’s Prison for over 20 years. His wife Rose worked faithfully by his side in the ministry.
Reverend Harmon was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving his country faithfully. He retired from Cooks Pest Control, and Southeastern Meats.
Reverend Harmon was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Harmon, of 57 years, his mother, Lena Ann McDaniel Harmon, and father, Jack Harmon, his brother, James Harmon, sister, Iris Virginia Moore, niece, Iris Woody, and his late wife of 14 years, Lillian Steiner Harmon.
Survivors include his nephews, Jerry Moore, James Moore, Cordell Moore, Jr. (Bucky), and Neil Moore.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with officiants Pastor Dennis Hicks, Pastor John Buff, and Rev. Russell Robinson. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time at North Chapel.
