Retired From The Hamilton County Clerk's Office After Many Years

Marilyn Joy McCollum, 88, affectionately known as "Meme" and a longtime resident of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Marilyn was married to Knox McCollum on Oct. 4, 1956. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, joy, and countless memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew them.

Mrs. McCollum dearly loved her family and was a life-long, faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and pianist for more than 20 years.

After many years of service to the Hamilton County Clerk’s office, Mrs. McCollum retired in 1998.

Preceding Mrs. McCollum in death were her husband, Knox McCollum, and two sisters, Gloria Thomas and Norma Barker.

She is survived by her daughters, Monica Goodwin (Jay), Melanie Bodine; Lynn Bodine; four grandchildren, Katie Farr, Eddie Farr, Matthew Bodine (Melissa), and Riley Bodine; five great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 3-6 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Pastor Rocky Brandford officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jay Goodwin, Lynn Bodine, Stephen Barker, David Barker, John White, and Jason Randolph. Honorary pallbearers are Duane Thomas, Jack White and Joe Westmoreland.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
