Michael Anthony Moore
Michael Anthony Moore, 68, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he retired from electrical sales where he worked with various companies for many years. Michael was a member of the Cleveland State Hall of Fame and the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame for his talents and accomplishments on the baseball diamond. He was quarterback at McCallie School under Coach Pete Potter and excelled on the baseball diamond as one of the most feared left-handed pitchers in the area. Michael attended Vanderbilt University his freshman year, went on to Cleveland State his sophomore year and was the Cougars’ first NJCAA 1st Team All American. He then went on to MTSU his junior and senior year where he was OVC pitcher of the year and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. Above all else, Michael was known for being a loving father to his two sons, a close friend to many, and being a devoted coach and advocate for youth sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel R. and Nellie L Sybilla Moore.
He is survived by two sons, Tanner Moore and Ryan Moore; brother, Terry (Nita) Moore; sister, Carolyn (Stan) Frost; granddaughter, Hadleigh Faith Moore; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to pay special tribute to the staff of Standifer Place, who became Michael’s second family, and to the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for the care they compassionately gave.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
