LaToya Renee Sivels-Evans, 43, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in a local hospital.

She was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and attended Brainerd High School. LaToya was a member of Greater Nazarene Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Sickle Cell Warriors.

LaToya was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Lynnell Evans, Sr.; grandfathers, Rudolph Foster, Sr. and Homer Sivels; great-grandmothers, Reita Foster and Bertha McKibben; great-grandfathers, John Foster and R.B. McKibben; sister, Malakia Sivels; aunts, Carol Jean Jordan and Renee Foster; and uncle, Kenneth Sivels.

Survivors include her daughter, Taylor Davenport of Chattanooga; stepdaughters, Makiyah (James) Evans of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Evans of Chattanooga; stepsons, DeWayne Evans, Jr. of Chattanooga, Jordan Evans of Kennesaw, GA, JaMonte Oliver, James Evans, Jeremiah Evans, and Jarrett Evans, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Ma’Kia Davenport, Ryder Oliver, Novah Evans, Legend Billups, and RyLiegh Evans, all of Chattanooga; mother, LaVonza (Curtis) Barnes; father, Andre (LaTina) Sivels, both of Chattanooga; grandmothers, Daisy Foster, Sarah Sivels, and Earline Freeman, all of Chattanooga, and Alma Barnes of Orlando, FL; mother-in-law, Myra (Elgin) Armstrong of Chattanooga; father-in-law, Gary (Rhonda) Evans, Sr. of Nashville; godsons, Willie Soles and Tez McClendon; goddaughter, Nay McClendon; sisters, LaKisha (Edward) Carter, Tara (Christoper) McDonald, Mia (Adam) Jackson, Tiffany Houston, Andrea Houston, and Mikel Sivels, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Rashad Foster, Keric Vinson, Brandon Barnes, and Michael Sivels, all of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Tamika Powell, Dywana (Jarmal) Ringer, Dr. Daphne Penn (John) Fonge, and Diondra Pumpkin Robinson, all of Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Gary Evans, Jr. of Chattanooga; aunts, Sandra Sanders and Sharon Heath, both of Chattanooga; uncles, Rudolph (Pamela) Foster, Jr. of Chattanooga, Darren (Tanya) Foster of Birmingham, AL, and Dr. John Perry Foster of New Orleans, LA; best friend and caregiver, Sha White; cousins and special friends, Joanne McKibben and LaKesha Franklin; a host of nieces; nephews; great-aunts; great-uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.

LaToya will lie in state on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Pastor Maurice Gilchrist as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
