Henrietta McDonald
Henrietta McDonald, born on July 11, 1936, passed away peacefully and entered the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 17, 2025, at the age of 88.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend who touched the lives of all who knew her
She is survived by her three beloved daughters, Myra Langlois (Bob), Mary Watts (John), and Mindy Byerley (Bob). Henrietta’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Zachary Morrison (Amy), Michael Langlois (Nakima), James Langlois (Maria), Christin Trepowski (Nick), Carrie Watts (Ricky Silliker), Bethany Wheeler, Jamie Wheeler, Michelle Covington (Michael), Robby Byerley (Schae), and Noah Byerley. She was also a proud great-grandmother to MJ Morrison, Grayson Morrison, Audrey Trepowski, Alice Trepowski, Adeline Trepowski, Leon Silicker, Tripp Byerley, Ellie Byerley, and Mahsiya Pamplin.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James McDonald; her father, Carlie McDuffee; her mother, Carrie McDuffee; her sister, Rebecca Crook; and her brother, Ancel McDuffee.
A longtime member of South Seminole Baptist Church, Henrietta’s faith was an important cornerstone in her life. She lived the majority of her life in East Ridge where she worked for 13 years at Kingwood Pharmacy in the gift department. She also was a very talented floral designer and was employed by East Ridge Florist for several years.
Henrietta was known for her warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her home was always open, and she created a welcoming space for those in need of support, comfort, and laughter. Her faith, strength, and joy in life left an enduring impact on her friends, family, and community. Henrietta’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held on Feb. 3, at 12:30 p.m. at South Seminole Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, Feb. 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel.
Though we mourn her absence, we hold on to the hope of eternal life in Christ, knowing that we will be reunited with her one day. Henrietta loved this promise, John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
