Clyde Edward Lee
Clyde Edward Lee, 84, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 11, 2025.
He was born in Fayetteville, NC, on Aug. 19, 1940, to Lillian Ruth Lee and William Clyde Lee. Ed graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1958 and was off to East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, where he was student senator and an active member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies and Geography in 1963.
Ed met the love of his life, Kay, in 1964. After only 9 months they were married in July, 1965 and were inseparable for 59 years until her passing in May, 2024. He is now reunited with his bride.
Ed worked for Crawford and Company for 37 years before he retired in the year 2000. He then launched into his beloved role as a visitation pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was an active member, elder and Sunday School teacher for 36 years. It was in this capacity that he was able to share his spiritual gifts of encouragement and loving others.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, an amazing friend and he never, ever met a stranger. He loved to talk, laugh, eat, golf, tell stories, and engage in deep conversation. He truly cared about anyone and everyone he met. Most of all, he loved Jesus and sharing with anyone the story of the Lord’s work in his life. He will be remembered for his deep love for the Lord and for people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four siblings and his beloved wife, Kay Dodson Nottingham Lee.
Ed is survived by his loving daughters, Jennifer Thomas, Whitney Smith (Michael) and Carrie Mullins (Corey). He was the best “Papa” and adored his grandchildren; Issac, Seth, Elijah and Micah Thomas, Michael Jr. and Summer Smith, and Grady, Tate and Levi Mullins. He was looking forward to becoming a great grandfather this summer.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sue (Richard) Schiller, his sister-in-law Valerie Nottingham; nieces and nephew, Kathryn Wurster, Margaret Schiller Romanof, Leigh Sand, and Timothy Nottingham; and many great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery with Seth Thomas, Elijah Thomas, Micah Thomas, Michael Smith Jr., Grady Mullins, Tate Mullins, and Levi Mullins serving as pallbearers.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, at Northshore Fellowship Church, 118 Woodland Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37405 with Rev Gary Moore officiating. A reception will follow the services.
