Kathy Reed and Lonesome Redwing
The WoodSongs Dalton Concert Series will feature Kathy Reed and Lonesome Redwing on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. The Atlanta based band will be performing at the First Presbyterian Church in the heart of historic Dalton.

Lonesome Redwing’s feet are firmly planted in the traditions of Americana, country, Western Swing, and bluegrass. The Atlanta based trio of Kathy Reed, Ellen Rapier, and Russell Weeks not only are talented musicians known for their instrumental expertise and tight harmonies, but they are captivating songwriters as well. Their songs about people, places, and experiences big and small are as delightful as they are thoughtful.
Along with their musical precision and craftsmanship, Lonesome Redwing is an engaging band whose performances invite the audience to join in on the fun. Their banter onstage and with the audience leave you with the feeling that you just spent an evening with best friends. With their original material, Lonesome Redwing also pays homage to their roots in the classics of their genres. Their beautiful arrangements and performances give new life to beloved old sweet songs. Lonesome Redwing has opened for such legendary performers as Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, Claire Lynch, The Steep Canyon Rangers and Patti Loveless.
Joining Lonesome Redwing will be Walter Dean on dobro and pedal steel guitar. Walt is an Atlanta native and a 40 year veteran of the Atlanta music scene. Known locally as “Dean of the Dobro,” Walt has played thousands of gigs of every type, size, genre and venue, and has worked as a guitar teacher as well as doing recording sessions in Atlanta and Nashville. Walt currently plays guitar with the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra and plays dobro with Atlanta’s best bluegrass musicians.
The concert will benefit the DEO Clinic. Now in its 20th year, the non-profit medical clinic has provided thousands of office visits to the under-served members of the greater Dalton community. DEO receives no state or federal government monetary support and depends on grants and the generosity of local donors and businesses. Contributions from each concert will be matched up to $2,500 by Modern Woodmen of America.
