Audrey Henderson
Audrey J. Henderson was born on July 4, 1956. She was the fourth of five children. Audrey as she was lovingly called was a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, friend and most importantly a grandmother and great-grandmother. She departed this life on February 3, 2025, after a brief illness.
Audrey was baptized into Christ at an early age at the Alton Park Church of Christ, in Chattanooga. She loved singing in the song groups at the congregations where she was a member.
Audrey was a 1974 graduate of City High School. After high school, she attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While attending UTC, she worked for American National Bank. Audrey married and soon became a USAF military spouse living in many places and traveled all over the world. She continued her career in the banking and finance industry for many years until she retired in 2015. Audrey has always been an avid reader and a lover of books in general. Introduced to romance novels by a friend as a teenager, inspired her to author “Number One Priority”, “The Basics of Love, Aim High!” and “Planet Selexa.” She enjoyed spending quality time with family, friends, her beautiful granddaughters, great grandson and her beloved fur babies.
Audrey was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Lillie M. Foster Henderson and Carey L. Henderson, Jr.; sister, Constance L. Henderson Grant; maternal grandparents, Hannah Freeman Foster Mobley and John A. Foster; paternal grandparents Dollie Henderson and Carey L. Henderson, Sr.; uncles, John A. Foster, Charles W. Foster, Jessie Foster, Joseph Henry Rowe and Lemmie Henderson; aunts Viola Sandridge; Clara Henderson Rowe and Mozzella Henderson; maternal great-grand parents Lillie Powell Freeman and John R. Freeman; fur babies, Charlie, Chewy, Chelsea.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, son, Berdell E. (Melissa) Lindsey, III, Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Tracy (Kavon) George, Converse, TX; granddaughters, Harper Lindsey, Colorado Springs, CO; Kyra George, Converse, TX, Ahlissa (Tylre) George LaBrick, New Braunfels, TX; great-grandson, Sawyer LaBrick, New Braunfels, TX. Brothers, Stephen (Frances) L. Henderson; Phillip (Jacqueline) G. Henderson; sister, Dorothy (Donald) R. Tatum, all from Chattanooga, TN. Uncle, Vernon Foster, Atlanta, GA; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family, friends and fur babies Chole and Chancy.
A srvice to celebrate the life of Mrs. Audrey J. Henderosn will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Ponders Brainerd Chapel with Bro. Phillip G. Henderson doing the Eulogy, Bro. Lethaniel Garner, Bro. Andre Massengale, and Bro. Louis Gillespie all Officiating. The family will receive friends for a musical tribute after 11 a.m. until the service hour.
