Eddie Lee Whitlock, Sr.
Eddie Lee Whitlock, Sr., 74, passed away on January 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love.
Eddie was born in Gulfport, Ms., and later moved to Chattanooga, as a young boy. He accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and Union Grove Baptist Church. A proud graduate of the Howard High School Class of 1970, Eddie played the trumpet in the Marching 100 Band. Following graduation, he went to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. Following service to his country, Eddie dedicated 20-plus years of his life to the Buster Brown Company where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. After retirement, he worked part-time at Food City grocery store where he was a familiar and friendly face. Outside of work, Eddie found solace and joy in fishing, cooking, and playing pool. He especially loved cleaning and cooking fresh fish that was brought to him by friends. He also had a special talent for landscaping, taking great pride in making sure his family and friends' yards and flower beds always looked their best.
He loved to travel, especially to visit family out of town and to the annual family reunions. This was very important to him. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, C.J. Whitlock, Sr; mother, Elnora Jones Whitlock; sister, Kiwanes Whitlock Smith, brother-in-law John Smith; and nephew, Cornelious Whitlock.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 42 years, JoAnn Whitlock; sons, Montez Whitlock, Eddie Lee Whitlock, Jr., and Christopher Whitlock: brother, Charles J. (Tawana) Whitlock, Jr; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Deborah (Woodie) Sardin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and other relatives.
