Jakayla Overton Goodlow
Jakayla Overton Goodlow, 19, was born on March 30, 2005, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to Jamichael Overton (Rosis Flores) and the late Terrell Denise Goodlow.
Jakayla was the cherished baby girl of five on her mother’s side - all brothers, Tim Foster, Tyrell Foster, Kevin Goodlow, and Justin Goodlow. On her father’s side. She was a beloved sister to Denece Marie Overton Flores and Patricia Reyes Flores.
Jakayla was a beloved cousin to many. Her family was everything to her, and she always made sure to show them love and share a laugh..
Jakayla’s heart was as big as her dreams. Her compassion led her to begin to pursue a career in healthcare, where she found fulfillment in caring for others. Having personally experienced the pain of losing her mother, she was especially drawn to working with hospice patients. She understood the importance of providing comfort and support to those who needed it most.
In addition to her caring nature, Jakayla had a passion for beauty and self-expression. She was a true beauty queen, with a love for cosmetology that radiated through everything she did. Her smile, grace, and elegance brightened the lives of those who were lucky enough to cross her path. Jakayla had a unique ability to make people feel beautiful, both inside and out.
Jakayla’s warmth, compassion, and most importantly laughter will be deeply missed by all who know her.
Though Jakayla may no longer walk among us, her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her spirit of kindness, beauty, and compassion will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew her. Jakayla will never be forgotten, and her love will remain with us always.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Terrell Denise Goodlow; her maternal grandmother, Denise Overton; and her paternal grandmother.
She is survived by her father, Jamichael Overton (Rosis Flores), and uncles, Raymond Harris Jr., James Harris, Rashard Harris (Lauren), and Stacy Goodlow; aunts, Timesha Lynn Goodlow, Lisa Denise Goodlow, and Denise Harris.
Public viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home.
The celebration of Jakayla’s life will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Hawkinsville Missionary Baptist Church, at 7463 Pinewood Drive.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
